Paris is the capital and most popular city in France. It is situated on the River Seine, in the north of the country, at the heart of the Ile-De-France region. The city consists of 20 arrondissements (areas). A large part of the city including the River Seine, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Centuries of cultural and political development have brought Paris a variety of museums, theatres, monuments and architectural styles. Many of its masterpieces such as the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe are iconic buildings, especially its internationally recognized symbol, the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower averages over 6 million visitors per year and more than 200 million since its construction. Paris is a global hub of fashion and has been referred to as the "international capital of style", noted for its haute couture tailoring, its high-end boutiques, and the twice-yearly Paris Fashion Week. The Champs-Elysees is a street in Paris with cinemas, cafes, luxury speciality shops and clipped horse-chestnut trees. It is arguably one of the world’s most famous streets and is one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world. Paris is also world renowned for its haute cuisine, attracting many of the world's leading chefs. Paris is home to the association football club Paris Saint-Germain FC and the rugby union club Stade Français. Disneyland Paris resort situated in Marne-la-Vallee is located 32km east of the center of Paris. It is the most visited attraction in all of France and Europe. The resort covers 4,800 acres, and encompasses two theme parks, several resort hotels, a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, and a golf course. Cheese and wine are a major part of the cuisine. Paris has a hot summer Mediterranean climate, enjoying mild temperatures most of the year. Rainfall is very moderate and mainly confined to winter. French is the main language spoken, although English is spoken.
